MEDITATION.......
Meditation is about coming to stillness of spirit and body. Despite all the distractions of the modern
world, this silence is perfectly possible for people today but to reach this stillness we have to devote
time to the work of silence. Meditation is simple and practical. It is about experience rather than
theory: a way of being rather than a way of thinking. Many people that practice meditation regularly
report that it has a profound effect on their life. It can therefore be regarded as a way of life rather
than a method of prayer; a way of living and acting from the deep centre of one’s own being.
The focus of meditation for Christians is Christ. This means that it is centred on the prayer of Christ
continuously poured forth from the Holy Spirit in the depth of each human being. Deeper than all
the ideas that we have of God is God himself. Deeper than the imagination is the reality of God. So in
this discipline of pure prayer all thoughts, word and images are left behind.
A Christian Meditation Group will meet in Llangamarch Wells Church on Wednesdays at 7.30pm from
January 11th 2012. Following some opening material the practice of meditation will be introduced
at the meeting, followed by a period of meditation and a short time of reflection. All those who are
interested are very welcome to attend.
