Christmas Day 2020
Eucharist service using ZOOM
We meet in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Grace and peace be with you and keep you in the love of Christ.
Do I not fill heaven and earth? Says the Lord.
Now the Word is made flesh and laid in a narrow manger
From eternity to eternity you are God
And now we see you as a newborn child.
Lighting of the Advent candle
1st Carol
Prayers of penitence
Christ the light of the world has come to dispel the darkness of our hearts. In his light let us examine ourselves and confess our sins.
God our Father you sent your Son full of grace and truth forgive our failure to receive him.
Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy
Jesus our Saviour you were born in poverty and laid in a manger; forgive our greed and rejection of your ways.
Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy
Spirit of love your servant Mary responded joyfully to your call; forgive the harness of our hearts.
Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy
Absolution
May the God of all healing and forgiveness draw you to himself, that you may behold the glory of his Son, the word made flesh, and be cleansed from all your sins through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen
The Collect
Almighty God, who hast given us thy only-begotten Son to take our nature upon him, and as at this time to be born of a pure Virgin: grant that we, who have been born again and made your children by adoption and grace, may daily be renewed by thy Holy Spirit; through the same Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit one God, now and forever. Amen
Old testament reading
Psalm 96
O sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvellous works among all the peoples.
For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
he is to be revered above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
Honour and majesty are before him;
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering, and come into his courts.
Worship the Lord in holy splendour;
tremble before him, all the earth.
Say among the nations, ‘The Lord is king!
The world is firmly established; it shall never be moved.
He will judge the peoples with equity.’
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
let the field exult, and everything in it.
Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy
before the Lord; for he is coming,
for he is coming to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with his truth.

The peace
Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and his name shall be called the Prince of Peace.
The peace of the Lord be always with you and also with you
The Eucharistic Prayer
The Lord be with you. And also with you.
Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
It is indeed right, it is our duty and our joy at all times and in all places to give you thanks Holy Father, all powerful and everliving God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Who by His death has destroyed death and by His rising to life again has restored to us eternal life.
And so with the host of Angels and all the company of heaven we proclaim the glory of your name and join in their unending hymn of praise.
Holy, holy, holy Lord.
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed are you, almighty God,
because on the night he was betrayed
the Lord Jesus took bread,
and when he had given you thanks,
he broke it, gave it to his disciples and said,
“Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you:
do this in remembrance of me.”
In the same way after supper he took the cup,
and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying,
“Drink from this, all of you, for this is my blood of the new covenant
which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins:
do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me.”
Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:
Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come in glory.
Therefore, loving God, recalling now the sacrifice of Christ your Son made once for all upon the cross and the triumph of his resurrection,
we ask you to accept this our sacrifice of praise.
Send your Holy Spirit on us and on these gifts
that we may be fed with the body and blood of your Son and be filled with your life and goodness.
Unite us in Christ and give us your peace that we may do your work and be his body in the world. Through him, with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honour and glory are yours, almighty Father, forever and ever. Amen.
Rejoicing in the presence of God here among us, as our Saviour taught us, we boldly pray: Our Father who art in heaven….
Prayer of Humble Access
We do not presume to come to this your table,
merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness,
but in your manifold and great mercies.
We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table.
But you are the same Lord, whose nature is always to have mercy.
Grant us therefore gracious Lord so to eat the flesh of your dear Son
Jesus Christ and to drink his blood,
that we may evermore dwell in him and he in us. Amen.
The Communion

The blood of Christ keep you in eternal life. Amen.
Give thanks to the Lord for he is gracious: his love is everlasting.
We say together

may the light of faith illumine our hearts and shine in our words and deeds;
May all the world acknowledge the kingdom of your Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
