Zoom Service - Sunday 30th January
“Morning Service”
Welcome to our modified Morning Prayer for use while we are in “Lockdown”.
We can share this Service as a temporary means of worship and fellowship during this period when we cannot attend Church.
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and in truth.
We have come together as the family of God in our Father’s presence, to offer Him praise and thanksgiving, to hear and receive his word, to bring before Him the needs of the world and to seek His grace, that through His Son, Jesus Christ, we may give ourselves to His service.
Thanks be to you, O God, that we have risen this day: To the rising of this life itself.
Be the purpose of God, between us and each purpose: The hand of God between us and each hand. The pain of Christ between us and each pain: The love of Christ, between us and each love. O God, who brought us to the bright light of this new day: Bring us to the guiding light of eternity.
Jesus said: ‘The first commandment is ‘Listen Israel! The Lord our God is the only Lord. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength’. The second is this: ‘You must love your neighbour as you love yourself!’
There is no commandment greater than these.
Let us now confess our sins to the Father and seek His pardon and peace:
Almighty and merciful God,
We have sinned against you
In thought, word and deed.
We have not loved you with all our heart.
We have not loved others as Christ loves us.
We are truly sorry.
In your mercy, forgive what we have been,
Help us to amend what we are,
And direct what we shall be;
That we may delight in your will
And walk in your ways,
To the glory and praise of your name.
Amen.
Lord, you have always given bread for the coming day,
Thank you: today I believe.
Lord, you have always given strength for the coming day,
Thank you: today I believe.
Lord, you have always given peace for the coming day,
Thank you: today I believe. Lord, you have always kept me safe in trials,
Thank you: today I believe.
Lord, you have always marked the road for the coming day; and though it may be hidden,
Thank you: today I believe.
Lord, you have always lightened any darkness of mine,
Thank you: today I believe.
Lord, you have always spoken when time was ripe, and though you be silent now, please listen, Thank you, today I believe.
MINISTRY of the WORD:
Our Readings for today: Psalm:
Old Testament:
New Testament:
Affirmation of the Faith: The Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
And born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven
And is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
Intercessions: A Time for Prayer:
And together, we now say the Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever,
Amen.
Psalm 23: Possibly the most famous of all the Psalms, appropriate at all times:
The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me besides the still waters.
He restoreth my soul, he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me: thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life :
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Amen.
The Grace: We will close our short service of fellowship with the words of The Grace:
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all, evermore, Amen.
